Each photograph is exhibited in found materials that usually originate from deteriorating homes and facades from throughout New Orleans. I recycle scraps of wrought iron, aged cypress and window frames into one-of-a-kind ensembles that provide the perfect context through which to view the images. Harvesting the old antique distressed wood provides an intrinsically unique and beautiful palate about nature, history and heritage. Similarly, in some instances, wooden boxes lined with stained glass form reliquaries that underscore the sacred dimensions of New Orleans’ religious customs and secular rites. Though I am principally a photographer going to the extreme with framing presentations, the finishing of these works is for me a unique outgrowth of recapturing the essences of New Orleans.
